Who Is Mara Zillums?
I'm an artist. Photography just happens to be my main medium right now.
I'm originally from Ukraine, and my creative work brought me all the way to Vancouver, Canada. I'm drawn to whimsy, storytelling, human connection, and a very particular kind of nostalgia — nostalgia for things that never happened and places that never existed. That feeling lives at the heart of everything I create.
Originality matters deeply to me. I don't want to repeat what already exists. I want to build new worlds, tell honest stories, and make work that feels personal to both of us.
I believe that to photograph is to remember.
In a world increasingly filled with artificial images, I want to create real experiences with real people. The photographs become proof that, for a moment, this world existed.
